Dorothy Irene Gilbert

Dorothy Irene Gilbert, 95, of Sedalia, MO passed away Saturday, November 28th, 2020 at Rest Haven Convalescent Home. She was born on February 18, 1925 in Windsor, MO to Eual and Mabel Richardson.

The family moved to Sedalia, MO in 1938 where she attended C.C. Hubbard Grade and High School, she was the oldest of two children.

She leaves to cherish a daughter, Benola (John) Warder of Sedalia, MO; a grandson, Jerry (Kim) Foster of Detroit, MI; a great grandson, Ashton Foster of San Francisco, CA; a sister, Erma Buckner of Sedalia, MO; six nephews and nieces, Linda (Kelly) Kaiser of Des Moines, IA, Nardica Buckner of Leachville, AR, Terry (Brenda) Buckner of Sedalia, MO, Eual Thomas Buckner of Sedalia, MO, Quinidean King of Sedalia, MO, and Kelly Buckner of Sedalia, MO; many great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Norvell Buckner.

She was the matriarch of the family. Dorothy had been a lifelong member of Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and served on the Mothers Board, the Usher Board and the Red, White and Blue Club. She loved to sing and was an active member of the Senior Mass Choir, the Combined Mass Choir, the Usher Board Choir, the Chancellor Choir, the Concert Choir and the CME Brown Singers.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.

A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Terry Buckner, Kelly Buckner, Steve Boggs, Jeffrey Boggs, Jerry Foster and Clayton Wright.
