Dorothy Florence Macaffree

Dorothy Florence Macaffree, 100, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp. On July 29, 1921, she was born in Fleetwood, England, the daughter of John and Ada (Hagan) Porter, who preceded her in death.

On May 25, 1945, in Portland, Oregon, She was united in marriage to David Hopkins Macaffree, who preceded her in death in 2009.

Dorothy loved volunteering for Seattle’s Children’s Hospital in Seattle, WA, and Open Door Thrift Store in Sedalia, MO. She lived in at least nine states and Iran while her husband worked for Boeing. While overseas, she was an avid traveler, exploring many countries in Europe.

Dorothy is survived by one son Michael Macaffree (Joyce); one daughter, Pamela Hanning, all of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Marisa Mateja, Jamie Appleman, Jason Hanning; six great-grandchildren, Morgan Mateja, Keaton Mateja, Brian Hinshaw, Charlotte Appleman, Elijah Appleman, Sevin Appleman.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, James Henry Porter and James William Porter Jr.

Family and friends may make memorial contributions to the Sedalia Open Door Thrift Store in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
