Obituary For Dorothy Dell Reed

Dorothy Dell Reed, 83, of Sedalia, MO passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on September 10, 1937, in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Darrell Lester Harmon and Dollie Alice Mae (Turnbough) Harmon, who preceded her in death.

On October 28, 1956, in Otterville, MO, was united in marriage to Donald E. Ward, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 16, 1999.

Dorothy was a member of Abundant Life Church in Cole Camp, MO. She worked as a receptionist for Superior Tax Service and co-owned Wards Tax Service for a combined forty years. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and bowling. She especially loved going to church and getting together with family. Dorothy was known for her generosity to others and kind spirit.

Survivors include four children, Betty Vansel (Richard) of Smithton, Debbie Rutledge-Preece (Amos Preece), Joni Bale, and Dino Ward (Janet) all of Sedalia; thirteen grandchildren, Robert Vansel, Tony Griffy, Scott Vansel, Crystal Vansel, Michael Ward, Jason Vansel, Gary Vansel, Danny Powers, Devin Ward, Jimmie Rutledge, Donee Ward, Kayla Ward, and Destiny Ward; thirty-four great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; three brothers, David Harmon (Betty) of Conway, AR, Donald Harmon (Melinda) of Milstadt, IL, and Danny Harmon (Brenda) of Conway, AR.; a sister, Donna Beeson of Sedalia.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Kreamalmeyer; a sister-in-law, Linda Harmon; two great granddaughters.

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2021, at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastors Tony and Merry Kroeger officiating, assisted by Pastor J.D. Reed.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the chapel.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, MO.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
