Obituary For Doris I. Leftwich

Doris I. Leftwich, 93, of Sedalia passed away Friday, October 10, 2014 at Rest Haven Convalescent Home, Sedalia. She was born on June 7, 1921 in Chariton, IA a daughter of Carl C. and Nelle A. (Burgett) Lafavre, who preceded her in death.

On March 5, 1946 in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Leftwich, who preceded her in death on September 16, 2014.

She enjoyed being at home being a mother, wife and homemaker. After raising her two children, Doris worked at Dillard’s in Kansas City, in the Women’s better dresses department. She worked there for 26 years, and had a perfect attendance record. Charles and Doris would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this coming March 5, 2015.

She is survived by two children, Chuck Leftwich (Jana) of Sedalia and Lynn Paul (Richard) of Overland Park, KS; one sister, Sarah Neuwerth of Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Iowa City, IA; three granddaughters, Anne Sneed, Ginger Alexander and Jill Ferguson; six great grandchildren, Olivia and Dakota Aggeler, Nickolas, Victoria, Jameson and Jaclyn Alexander.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Ritchhart and Martha Stipp.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm, on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Salem Cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Brown officiating.

Family will receive friends at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, prior to graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Albert Bruehl, Bill Ferguson, David and Norman Ritchhart, and Chris Pettersen.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Sedalia Animal Shelter or Alzheimer’s Association care of the funeral chapel.
