Donna Marie Baker, 96, of Warrensburg, MO, formerly of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the Warrensburg Manor Care Center in Warrensburg. She was born on January 6, 1929, in Horton, KS, the daughter of Edward and Doris (Boyer) Wenger, who preceded her in death.
The eldest of four daughters, Donna grew up in northeast Kansas on her family's farm. On October 29, 1950, in Horton, KS, Donna was united in marriage to Walter Baker, who preceded her in death on December 30, 2012.
Donna and Walter began their marriage and family in Kansas and later moved to Knob Noster, Missouri, in 1966. Among other places of employment, Donna worked for 30 years as a nurse's aide at hospitals and nursing homes, with 18 years at Bothwell Regional Health Center, where she later retired in 1992. Donna loved gardening, reading, camping, cooking, and baking pies. She was devoted to her family and cherished her time with them, which was always evident when she hosted family dinners and enjoyed annual family reunions with her sister's children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Donna's contagious laughter often filled the room when she spent time with her family.
Donna is survived by her children, Roger (Vicki) Baker of Bates City, MO, Theresa (Terry) Fuller of Knob Noster, MO, and Bonnie Adcox of Magnolia, AR; a sister, Patricia (William) Roberts of Lawrence, KS; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Donna is preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Bettge and Della Darling; a son-in-law, Jay Adcox; and a grandson, Troy Fuller.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Knob Noster Cemetery in Knob Noster, MO, with Charles Brant officiating.
Pallbearers will be family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or Heartland Church of Knob Noster in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
