It is with tears of love that we must announce the death of Donald Wayne Seifner. At his home, surrounded by his loving family, "Don" went to be with his lord on Sunday May 24, 2015 at 9:35 am. He was preceded in death by his parents Alphonse John Seifner and Florence Anna Seifner. Don is survived by his wife Lona, of the home, two daughters Cindy M Seifner and Tina Seifner both of Sedalia, one son, and his "Sis" Nancy Paxton of Windsor. One step daughter Monica Lund (David), two grandsons, Austin Chewning of Sedalia, Nathan Seifner of Springfield, four step-grandsons Ashton and Jasper Lund of Springfield, Carl and Dakota Lund of Springfield. One granddaughter, Keyshya Seifner of Springfield and step-granddaughter Peyton Lund of Springfield. Two Great-Grandsons Gavin and Tanner Roderick of Springfield, a niece Lori Cuba of Sedalia, and nephew Chad Paxton of Windsor. Don was born November 8, 1940 growing up and working on his parent’s farm outside of Smithton, until he enlisted in the US Army serving proudly from 1959-1962. Don loved to "play in the dirt", ran heavy equipment most of his life, and moved his last bucket of dirt with B&P Excavating. He always said he never worked a day in his life, because he loved his job. He loved that big yellow equipment and was very talented at running just about anything he crawled up on. He worked hard his whole life, had a great sense of humor, he was responsible, giving, loving, and an all-around great man. When he wasn’t working, he loved to be outside in his garden, making sure no weeds survived around his tomatoes. Don enjoyed raising chickens, cows, and the one cat he couldn't run off, Momma Kitty. Don lived his life for others, he was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Thank you Father Mark for your visits and prayers. A big thanks and hugs to the Benton County Hospice, Merriam, Tammy, Michelle, and Susan for their caring support. Words from Don in his last days, "Tell everyone I said goodbye, I lived a good life". Pallbearers will be Frank Bryant, Todd Brendmoen, Bob Mann, Mike Brown, Bobby Slaughter, and Bill Hanks. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Chewning, Nathan Seifner, Darrell Foster, Floyd Northrip, Kenny Meloy and Ken Oliver. A litany service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday May 28, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Father Mark Miller C.PP.S officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia. Full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2591. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Benton County Hospice.
