Obituary For Donald Hunter

Donald "Donnie" Ray Hunter, 52, of Sedalia passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at EW Thompson Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on August 21, 1964 in Sedalia, the son of Robert W. Hunter, who preceded him in death and Ruth Ann (Wombles) Offenburger, who resides in Sedalia. On April 4, 1986 in Sedalia he was united in marriage to Terri L. Garrigus, who resides of the home. Donnie started out working at the age of 13 with his own lawn service that he continued until the age of 49. As soon as he was legally able to work, he was employed with Schultz Demolition Crew and Toppers Meat Company until they closed. Donnie retired from Hayes (Maxion) Wheels after working from August 1, 1990 until August 29, 2013. He was a member of the Sedalia Lions Club, First Baptist Church, and Sedalia Moose Lodge #1494. Donnie was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. He loved his family and friends passionately! He taught his daughters how to be independent, to hunt and fish, and to play the best practical jokes on friends, family, and even strangers; that is what Donnie was most-known for. Donnie will be remembered for his big caring heart, contagious smile, sense of humor, and being the best practical joker. Donnie enjoyed spending time outdoors tending his 40-acre hobby farm. He loved dirt track racing and figure 8 demolition derbies with tuff truck challenges. He enjoyed shopping trips to the city, where there was always at least one stop at Quik-Trip. He always looked forward to the Missouri State Fair, even adding a countdown on his phone. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. Donnie would find any excuse to have a get together/BBQ to spend time with family and friends, but maybe that was for the dessert. In addition to his wife Terri, and his mother Ruth, he is survived by two daughters, Holly (Nick) Gentges and Heather Hunter (Brian Brockman) all of Sedalia; three brothers, Bennie (Pam) Hunter of Hughesville, Bobby Hunter, and Jimmy (Amy); a sister, Mary (Bill) Pillars all of Sedalia; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; family friend Barbara Pillars; and his very best friend Bobby Snow. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 30, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Bill Smart, officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Chapel. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Snow, Larry Kreisel, Mark Allen, George Owens, Mike Larimore, Dan Welch, Hugo Dennis and Jeff Barnes. Honorary bearers will be Zach Hunter, Colten Ditton, Jacob Hunter, Kelton Hunter, Shane Fockler, Chris Koetting, John Meehan, Tim Berube, Jeff Kesterson, Rob Lamm, J.D. Schlobohm, Phil Kemp, Kevin Funk, Mel Garrett, Matt Moulton, and Sterling Green. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Sedalia Lions Club in care of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
