Donald Dearwood Howard Sr., 87, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. On November 18, 1934, he was born in California, MO, the son of Jesse Howard and Edna (Wolfrum) Howard, who preceded him in death.
On January 23, 1960, in Clarksburg, MO, he was united in marriage to Maxine Thompson, who preceded him in death on March 24, 2018.
Don served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver all of his life. He last drove for Don's Truck Towing in Sedalia. Don enjoyed working on old tractors and tinkering around in his workshop. He especially loved being out on his lawn tractor mowing his yard.
Survivors include a son, Bill Howard of Sedalia; two daughters, Marcie Smith of Sedalia and Vickie Jacobs of Higginsville, MO; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Howard of California, MO, and Norman Howard of Tipton, MO; two sisters, Virginia Kirchoff of California, MO, and Ruby Allee of Tipton, MO.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Wayne Howard; a son, Donald Howard, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Jayline Howard; a grandson, Joshua Settles.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Rusty Thomas officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Full military honors will be conducted by WAFB Honor Guard and Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
