Devon Blake Grose, 19, of Sedalia passed away April 14, 2016 near Louisburg, MO, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was born on January 9, 1997 in Sedalia, Missouri the son of Daniel Lee Grose and Misty Dawn Casdorph, who survive in Sedalia.
Devon graduated in 2015 from Sacred Heart School and was a member of Sacred Heart Church beginning at his baptism. He played soccer since he was 5 years old and continued on to play all four years in high school and beyond. He was defensive outside back for the 3rd place state soccer team in 2014. His work ethic on the field showed as Devon was All-Conference, All-District, All-Region, and All-State his Senior Year. He was a leader on the field and showed pride and support to his team. He played golf and was a member of the National Honor Society. He volunteered for numerous community organizations. Everyone enjoyed seeing Devon and his beautiful smile. He was voted as the guy with the best smile by his senior class. He was the Prom King his senior year. Devon had many friends and was quoted in his yearbook saying "Spending the 13 years at Sacred Heart with his friends was great". He had a passion for cars, music and making everyone's day brighter.
Devon was fun, hard-working, determined, kind-hearted and loved by so many people, young and old. He was an inspiration to his younger siblings and anyone that came in contact with him.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his step mother, Shawn Marie Grose of Sedalia; He will be missed by his four siblings, Brianna Sue Barr, Hayden Daniel Grose, Whitney Marie Grose, and Tripp Ryder Balke all of Sedalia; maternal grandparents, Pete and Ruth Casdorph of Sedalia, and Duane and Mary Lou Roed of Bowling Green, MO; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Lou Grose of Sedalia and Stanley and Charlene Horman, of Sweet Spring, MO; paternal great grandmother, Marian Horman of Concordia, MO; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He preceded in death by maternal great grandparents, Lowell and Betty Roed; paternal great grandpa, Lawrence Horman; and paternal great grandmas, Alice Aversman and Mildred Kraus.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mark Miller C.PP.S officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia. A prayer service will begin the visitation at 6:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Pallbearers will be Jordan Shipley, Keyaire Marshall, Chase Lyles, Mason Kelchner, Garrett Strange, Nicholi Crank, and Zac Cook.
Honorary bearers will be, Matt Nielsen, Cobey Martin, Christopher Mergen, Will Prenger and the Sacred Heart Class of 2015.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart School for a scholarship in Devon's name.
