Dennis J. McCullough, 72, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born on January 10, 1952, in Lodi, OH, to Jack McCullough and Mary Charlene (McDonald) McCullough, both of whom preceded him in death.
On April 19, 1975, in Sedalia, MO, he married Amy L. Nye, who survives him.
Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Northwestern High School in West Salem, OH. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably from 1971 to 1975 as a heavy equipment operator in Guam. Following his military service, Dennis worked as a newspaper printing press operator for Gowe Printing, the Sedalia Democrat, and later for the Columbia Tribune, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and sharing dad jokes, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Above all, Dennis cherished his family. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three children: Brian McCullough (Christi) of Milton, FL; Kristen McCullough of Sedalia; and Elizabeth McCullough of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Bryce, Jaela, Brayden, Haylee, Livianna, and Nylah; two brothers: Robert McCullough and David McCullough, both of Ohio; a sister: Karen Johnson of Ohio; an uncle: Dick McCullough of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joyce McCullough, and a brother-in-law, Rick Johnson.
A graveside service with full military honors by the United States Air Force and Sedalia VFW Post #2591 will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Brian McCullough, Bryce McCullough, Dean Manuel, Ryan Manuel, Randy Simons, and Jerry Mathieu.
Memorial contributions may be made to Retrieving Freedom in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
