Debra K. Collier, 67, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born on August 29, 1957, in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Larry Matte and Norma (Simon) Matte.
On April 27, 1974, in Sedalia, MO, she was united in marriage to H. Steven Collier, who resides in the home.
They grew a life together and raised two children that were the center of their world. Dogs were always important to the family and brought Debbie great joy. She loved watching baseball and rooting for her team, the KC Royals. She also understood the power of hard work and determination and was able to advance into a job that gave her great satisfaction, a management position at Sherwin Williams. Then, in 1997, she suffered a devastating stroke that left her hemiplegic and with limited ability to communicate. With persistence and strength, she fought to regain her abilities, and despite all odds, she re-learned how to operate in her new world. She never gave up. She always smiled. Her love, kindness, and unbreakable spirit moved all who knew her well.
In addition to her husband, Debbie is survived by a daughter, Dr. Angela Collier (Jake) of Jacksonville, FL, and a son, Kenny Collier of Overland Park, KS; and a granddaughter, Arya.
Debbie was preceded in death by her loving mother, Norma, and dearest friend and cousin, Cathy Lewis.
