Deana Marie Rader

Deana Marie Rader, 78, of Sedalia, MO, formerly of Machesney Park, IL, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. She was born on February 14, 1946, in Shawnee County, Kansas, the daughter of Wayne and Mildred (Ward) Black, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, Deana was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Black of Washington, IL.

Deana grew up and graduated high school in Tonganoxie, KS. On March 6, 1965, she was united in marriage to Billy Joe Rader, who survives in the home. They were married for 59 years at her passing.

Deana was employed with various insurance companies from 1965 - 2008. In 2008, she retired from Farmers Insurance in Sedalia, MO.

Besides her work, Deana enjoyed working in her garden and singing in church with her friends and church choirs. In recent years, Deana was an enthusiastic member of the Silver Swifties, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs from her home at the Primrose Retirement Community in Sedalia, MO.

In addition to her husband, Deana is survived by three children, Larry Rader (Juliana) of Somonauk, IL, Robert Rader (Melinda) of Rockford, IL, and Julie DeBord (Chris) of La Monte, MO; and five grandchildren, Clint, Anastasia, Josephine, Luke, and Nouvelle.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
