David DeWayne Werths, 62, of Sedalia, MO passed away January 22, 2022, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on September 2, 1959, in Marshall, MO the son of Robert Werths (Joan), of Concordia, and Wanda Mayes (Jr).
On May 19, 2001 in Windsor, MO, he was united in marriage to Cynthia Lamb, who resides in the home.
Dave was a 1977 graduate of Windsor High School. Dave's family lived in multiple places through elementary school, residing in Windsor, MO from Middle School through High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps as a Motor Transport Operator from 1979 until 1983. Dave's work career included, Clearfield Cheese and Payless Cashways. In Aug of 2001 he began working for Inter-State Studio in Sedalia, MO as the Litho Bindery Supervisor until his illness. He was respected and loved by all. He always went out of his way to help anyone at work. He could always be counted on. He took pride in doing his job.
Dave loved fishing, cooking, and hanging out with his 4 beloved dogs. He was passionate about his dogs. He believed in rescuing them. Everyone who knew Dave, knew his dogs loved him more than they did Cynthia. Dave and Cynthia always joked how she would come home and give them their treats, then they would immediately run back to get on his lap. He would even sleep uncomfortable so we wouldn't have to disturb them.
He was very proud when his son, Davin got his Eagle Scout award. He enjoyed coaching Davin in sports and being involved with Boy Scouts. He loved traveling all over to watch Jason and Kelli play their sports. Dave was always excited to help Davin and Jason with deer hunting, shooting guns, going fishing, and riding motorcycles. He became a very proud Grandpa after his granddaughter was born in May of 2020.
Along with his wife he is survived by three children, Davin Werths (Ashley) of Windsor, Jason Lamb (Brianna) of Sedalia, and Kelli Lamb (Rojo) of Eden, GA; a granddaughter, Brooklynn Werths of Windsor; seven siblings, Tami Smith (Craig) of Windsor, Darren Mayes of Sedalia, Donnie Mayes of Windsor, Susan Reeves (Werths) of Concordia, Steven Werths (Jenny), of Florida, Tracey Werths (Pamela), of Concordia, and Travis Werths (Elisa), of Concordia; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Wanda and Jr. Mayes, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Werths; a nephew, Christopher Smith; and his beloved dog, "Jake".
A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2022, at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO with full military honors by the United States Marine Corps and Sedalia VFW Post #2591.
Honorary bearer will be his fishing buddy, David Stone.
In lieu of flowers and plants memorial contributions may be made to any local animal shelter or pet rescue organization in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
