Obituary For Darrell A. Scott

Darrell A. Scott, 72, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at his home. He was born on October 9, 1944, in Sedalia, the son of Joseph and Mary (Latta) Scott, who preceded him in death.

On April 14, 1990, Darrel and Mary, his life time friend of 40 years, became one. They were soul mates for 65 years. Mary Ruth Edwards remains of the home.

Darrell graduated from Smith-Cotton High School, class of 1963. He attended Morberly Bible College from 1963-1965. Darrel was in the Air Force from 1964-1970 and was stationed in Germany for three years. He then went to work for The City of Sedalia in 1973 an transferred to the City Fire Department in 1979. He retired in 2009. One of his trademarks growing up was imitating Donald Duck. He loved making people laugh. He also loved singing. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

In Addition to his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, Shad Newland and his wife Kim and Shane Newland and his wife Cindy all of Independence, MO; a foster daughter, Connie Appleberry of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Sequoia Newland, Kenneth AhHee, Celeste AhHee, and Haley Montgomery; several nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, William Scott; and a sister, Marilyn Gibbs.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Corbett Martin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the chapel.

Honorary pallbearers will be retired and active members of the Sedalia Fire Department.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
