Obituary For Clifford Dawson

Clifford H. "Chuffy" Dawson, 87, of Houstonia, MO passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home in Houstonia. He was born on September 9, 1929 in Houstonia, a son of Jess and Nellie (Messer) Dawson, who preceded him in death.

On December 21, 1950 in Sedalia he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Dorothy J. Baker, who resides of the home.

Cliff served his country honorably in the United States Army through the Korean Conflict. He also worked for the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Houstonia United Methodist Church and faithfully watched Joel Osteen every Sunday.

Chuffy loved to travel across the country and he had a lot of memorable camping trips with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed traveling in the Branson area. He loved to fish, hunt mushrooms, and listen to country music, but his biggest passion in life was the love he had for his family and the sacrifice he made for all. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was a gentleman with a kind soul who never hesitated to help a friend, neighbor, or stranger.

He is survived by four children, Vickie Vogelsmeier (Clay) of Grain Valley, MO, Terri Medina of Warsaw; Tona Dawson (Robert) of Oak Grove, MO and Scott Dawson (Julie) of Marshall, MO; one brother, Tony Dawson (Pat) of Hutchinson, KS; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers; two sisters; a son-in-law, Rick Medina; and special family members, Milo and Ida Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at the Houstonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Wayne Colflesh officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

Burial will be at Houstonia Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Clay Martin, Kenny Vickrey, Mark Underwood, Robert Swinney, Ron Vogelsmeier and Travis Kessler.

Honorary bearer will be David Nelson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial that will be given to the city of Houstonia in Clifford's name.
