Obituary For Clarence "Sonny" Broyles

Clarence Ray "Sonny" Broyles, 85, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home. He was born on January 10, 1932 in Sedalia, the son of Wesley C. and Ethel (Henderson) Broyles, who preceded him in death.

On February 1, 1964 he was united in marriage to Louise Ann Whitaker, who preceded him in death on February 8, 2007.

Sonny was a 50 year life member of Sedalia Masonic Lodge 236 AF & AM, Sedalia VFW Post 2591. He served his country honorably in the United State Air Force during the Korean War. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at his cabin on Truman Lake and with his fellow servicemen at VFW Post. He especially was very proud of his children and grandchildren who he loved to harass.

Sonny is survived by two sons, Sonny Broyles (Lori) and Brian Broyles (Jerrie); two daughters, Lisa Swords and Lori Proctor (Chad) all of Sedalia; seven grandchildren, Ned Lindstrom, III, Dakota Proctor, Tanner Proctor, Annabell Proctor, Macy Broyles, Adam Lightfoot, and Megan Lightfoot; two great grandchildren, Clayton and Hunter.

Besides his wife, Ann, and parents, he is also preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Allen.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Downing officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2591 and Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Glen Glidewell, Harold Burt, Jim Gregory, Joe Bode, Darrin Fravel, and Chad Proctor.

Honorary bearers will be John Bus, Ned Lindstrom, III, Dakota Proctor, Tanner Proctor, Adam Lightfoot, Jeremy Brownfield, and members of Sedalia VFW Post #2591.

Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 2591 or to the Sedalia Masonic Granite Lodge 272 AF & AM in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
