Christopher David Paul, 31, of Sedalia passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS, almost three years after being diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He was born on July 30, 1991, in Santa Barbara, CA, the son of David G. Paul and Judith A. (Marcinkiewicz) Paul, who reside in Sedalia.
After graduating with honors from Smith-Cotton High School in 2009, he attended the University of Missouri on a Bright Flight scholarship before going back to California to study at Santa Barbara City College.
Along with his parents, Christopher is survived by his sons, Derrick Paul and Jacson Cools; a sister, Jennifer Smith (Alex) of Sedalia; a brother, AJ Paul of Kansas City, MO; two nieces and a nephew; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Lois Paul, and his maternal grandparents, Frank and Marjorie Marcinkiewicz.
Christopher fought to live, especially for his young sons, with whom he spent as much time as possible, sharing with them an interest in Pokémon cards and video games. He played board games with family and friends, liked collectible cards, and had a passion for sports, which, along with his gift for mathematics, led to an interest in sports statistics. While still a young boy, he became a lifelong fan of the New England Patriots. He loved to learn and was an avid reader from childhood. Those who knew Christopher best will miss his sensitivity, imagination, and quick wit.
