Charles William "Dub" Balch, 86, of Sedalia, MO passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, at his home. On January 5, 1936, he was born in Sedalia, the son of Clarence William Balch and Irene Elizabeth (Stephens) Balch, who preceded him in death.
On December 31, 1955, in Jefferson City, MO, he was united in marriage to Fern Etta Thomas, who preceded him in death on April 7, 2020.
Dub worked for Town and Country Shoes for 22 years and Adco, Inc. for 24 years, until his retirement in 2001. Dub was a great family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dub was a hard-working man. He enjoyed working on his tractors, old Ford trucks, and tilling gardens for his neighbors. Dub was known for his storytelling, visiting with friends, and never meeting a stranger.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Balch Sr. (Peggy) and Steve Balch (Becky); three daughters, Kathy McMullin (Peter), Janet Balch, and Nancy Welch (Tim), all of Sedalia; ten grandchildren, Chris Galloway, Jennifer Fox, Kristiana Cook, Mark Balch Jr., Brandon Balch, Lucas McMullin, Kari Balch, Ryan Welch, Heather Galloway, and Steven Balch; and ten great-grandchildren, Shelby Galloway, FaithAnne Welch, Fernetta Crawford, Hazel Balch, Mackenzie Welch, Bentley McMullin, Korbin Cook, Kiley Galloway, Harken Balch, and Elliott McMullin.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Galloway; sister, Theda Curtis; and a son-in-law, Wiley Galloway.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022, at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel before the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Chris Galloway, Mark Balch, Jr., Brandon Balch, Lucas McMullin, Ryan Welch, and Steven Balch.
Honorary bearers will be Jennifer Fox, Kristiana Cook, Kari Balch, Heather Galloway, and Harold Young.
Family and friends may make memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Shriner's Children's Hospital in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
