Charles Thomas Stockstill, 89, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO. He was born on November 2, 1928 in Peacan Gap, TX the son of Thomas Bradford and Nannie Mae (Garner) Stockstill, who preceded him in death.
On February 15, 1958, in Sedalia he was united in marriage to Dolores J. Dillon, who resides of the home.
Chuck was 1944 graduate of Smithton High School at the age of 16 years old. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Chuck worked for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, retiring in 1991. In the early 70's, he opened the Main Street Bar and later the Pacific Bar and Cafe in Sedalia. In 1973, along with his wife, they started Chuck and Dee's at the Missouri State Fair, which still exists after 45 years. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He coached his Jr. Babe Ruth team to the 1972 Jr. Babe Ruth World Series. Chuck was instrumental in starting the youth Khourey League Soccer program in Sedalia. In the early 70's, Chuck formed a local basketball team, "The Sedalia Possum Trotters". In 1969, Chuck brought the World Champ Kansas City Chiefs to Sedalia for a benefit basketball game to raise money for local charities. After retirement, Chuck enjoyed raising cattle on his farm and spending quality time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
In addition to his wife Dolores, his is survived by two sons, Mark Stockstill (Deina) of Sedalia, and Charles T. Stockstill, Jr. of Sedalia; three grandchildren, Rachel Stockstill (Rudy Moreno), Mat Stockstill (Jen West) and Haylee Simpson; two great grandchildren, Kylie and Kaitlyn; two nieces, Tammy Stockstill Johnson and Dana Stockstill Crawford; a nephew, Jason Hammond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Mae Adams; and a brother, Glen Roy Stockstill.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at First United Methodist Church Celebration Center, with family friend, Greg Bechtel officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the celebration center.
Honorary urn bearer will be special family friend, Steve Moore.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
