Charles Gary Gant, 84, of Otterville passed away December 3, 2017 at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, MO. He was born on June 21, 1933 in Desloge, MO the son of Virgil V. and Gladys (Gayhart) Gant, who preceded him in death.
On March 3, 1962 in Kansas City, MO he was united in marriage to Janet L. Bowen, who resides of the home.
Charles served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam and Korean wars as a postal clerk aboard the ships, USS Seminole, USS Mullinnix, USS Buchanan and the USS Dixie. Retiring in 1970 after 20 years of service to his country. After retiring, he went into business with his dad at Gant Lumber Co. in Otterville, MO. until 1985 and then went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Charles enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and spending quality family time.
In addition to his wife Janet, he is survived by two sons, Brian Gant (Christina) of Smithton and Bradley Gant (Nicole) of Camdenton, MO; two grandchildren, Gabe and Kelsey; a great grandson, Nathan; a brother, Danny Gant (Debbie) of Lee's Summit, MO; a sister Molly Howe of Mineola, MO.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Gary Gant, Jr.; two brothers, William Gant and Stanley Gant; a sister, Peggy Thorne; his step-mother Wilma Gant-Langkop.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville with full military honors conducted by VFW Post #2591 and U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Gant, Travis Hagedorn, Brian Aggeler, David Morrison, Joshua Siegel and Josh Nau.
Honorary bearers will be Warsaw-Sedalia Patriot Guard Riders.
Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri State Veterans Home, Warrensburg or the Warsaw-Sedalia Patriot Guard Riders in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
