Obituary For Carolyn Jane Purchase

Carolyn Jane Purchase, 91, of Green Ridge, MO, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, MO. She was born on November 13, 1928 in Green Ridge, the daughter of Harold H. and Lena (Kendrick) Ream, who preceded her in death.

On August 14, 1949 in Green Ridge, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wilfred Lewis Purchase, who preceded her in death on October 17, 2009.

Carolyn was a lifelong member of Green Ridge Presbyterian Church. She and her husband were members of the Pettis County Cattleman's Association. Carolyn and Wilfred lived all their married life on the family farm, which achieved Century Farm Status in their lifetime. Carolyn worked alongside her husband, driving the tractor, helping with their cattle operation, raising chickens, a plentiful garden, and raising children. Carolyn was known for her beautiful garden, her wonderful cooking, and her sweet smile. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, going to the boats, and reading. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, and when her family was playing. Carolyn passed down her love of chocolate to her family as well. Carolyn possessed a generous spirit that she shared not only with family and friends but also many of her favorite charities. When you were welcomed into Carolyn’s home you always left well fed and with a smile on your face. Carolyn’s beautiful brown eyes lit up whenever her family and friends were around. She possessed a sweet nature, a beautiful and kind soul, a great sense of humor, and the sweetest smile.

Survivors include a son, W. Scott Purchase of Green Ridge; a daughter, Shawn Thomason (Mark) of Green Ridge; six grandchildren, W. Dean Purchase (Erin), Jon Russell Purchase (Ashley), Brenda Kay Arnold (Brian), Robin Nichelle Petree (Grant), Derek Wade Thomason (Lindsey), Ashley Drew Goodman (Derrick "Duke"); 14 great-grandchildren, Riley, Alan, Evelyn, Larrah, Ila, Norrah, Kayley, Jackson, Chase, Olivia; Case, Charlee Mae, Dani, and Katelyn; her beloved sister, Janet Green of Sedalia; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin De'Ann; a son, Mark Russell; grandson, Brian Louis Purchase; and two brothers, Russell Ream and Julian Ream.
