Obituary For Carl Vannoy

Carl Eugene Vannoy, 83, of Concordia, formerly of Sedalia, MO passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Lutheran Good Shepherd Home in Concordia. He was born on August 11, 1931 in Green Ridge, MO a son of James and Docie (Bray) Vannoy, who both preceded him in death. On February 14, 1970, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Adaline M. (Gamber) Carver, who survives of the home in Concordia. Carl founded A-1 Television store on Main street in Sedalia in 1972. He retired from his store in 1987. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Adaline loved to travel across the country and many other bordering countries. Carl served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany from 1951-1954. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael Vannoy (Jeannine) of Columbia; one step-son, Daniel Carver (Heidi) of Colorado; two step-daughters, Leslie Gail, of the Lake area and Cynthia Limback (Mark) of Concordia; two sister-in-laws, Laura Moon (David) of Hughesville and Sue Roxstrom (Jim) of Maple Valley, WA; one brother-in-law, David Gamber (Joyce) of Gunison, CO; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald Vannoy; four brothers, Paul, Everett, John and Mack Vannoy; and one granddaughter, Amanda Vannoy. A celebration of life/Gathering of friends and family, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Parkview Christian Church, Sedalia with Rev. Rodney Brown officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm until service time, at the church. Burial of the ashes will be at Green Ridge Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Crossroads Hospice, Show Me Christian Youth Home or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
