Carl Eugene Arnett

October 23, 1964 — August 24, 2024

Carl Eugene "Gene" Arnett, 59, of rural La Monte, MO, passed from this physical life to his eternal life on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, MT.

Gene was born in Sedalia, Missouri, on October 23rd, 1964. He was the son of the late Carl and Mary Arnett (Bahner) of La Monte, Missouri. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Phyllis Montgomery of Sedalia. Gene was the oldest of seven children. He is survived by all six of his siblings: Lisa (Jeff) Keucker, Doug Arnett, Greg (Kendra) Arnett, Krista Arnett, Tim (Lisa) Arnett, and Rebecca (Bryan) Partington.

Gene is also survived by his wife and the love of his life, Sue Ann Arnett (Montgomery). They married on May 3rd, 1986, and were blessed with 38 years of love, growth, and joy together. They had four children: Holly (Eric) Richardson, Elizabeth (Julie) Arnett-Johnson, Jason (Kate) Arnett, and Joseph (Harlie) Arnett-West. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren who were the lights of his life: Blythe Cameron, Cassoday, Matthew, William Richardson, Everleigh, Jude, Fern Arnett, and an eighth one on the way.

Gene was a lifelong resident of La Monte. He spent his entire life, since boyhood, working on the generational family farm. His love of farming was sparked by his grandfather, Carl William Arnett, Sr., and furthered by his father, Carl. Gene's passion for farming and his extraordinary work ethic was unparalleled. Through his work on the farm and life lived in the Pettis county area, Gene had many friends who he loved and was grateful to share life with.

One of the things that stands out most about Gene was his character. No matter the situation, he could be counted on to be fair, kind, honest, and consistent. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to everyone lucky enough to know him.

Gene could also be described as a reserved person, but he found joy in several things. One of those was his dirt bike, which he frequently gave rides to the grandchildren on and popped the occasional wheelie to impress them. He loved his collection of arrowheads and hunting the family land for more. He also enjoyed attending and competing in tractor pulls. He was extremely passionate about spending time with his family and was often seen with a grandchild or two in his arms.

The greatest love of Gene's life was that he had for his Savior, Jesus Christ. Gene was a faithful and dedicated member of the church of Christ. He looked forward to any time he could spend with his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He was also a voracious reader of the Bible and spent much time studying the scripture. He was eager to share the gospel of Jesus with others as he wanted them to know the same peace and joy he found in his Creator.

Whether he was pouring his heart into work on the farm, loving his family, or spreading the message of the gospel, he was a sower of seeds.

A public visitation is planned for Friday, August 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Rea's Funeral Chapel in Sedalia. The funeral service and burial at La Monte Cemetery will be held at a later date.
