Caleb Ryan Sell, 34, of Sedalia, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in Kansas City, MO. He was born on September 22, 1989, in Columbia, MO, the son of Dwight Sell, Jr. (Nancy) of New Bloomfield, MO, and Cynthia S. (Sell) Schulte (Rob) of Lee’s Summit, MO.
Caleb was a 2008 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. While in high school, Caleb was in the Vocational Technology Computer and Electronics Program. He graduated with a major in Network Systems Technology from Linn State Technical School in 2010. His work career included Marel Industries, Healthy Habits (Sedalia), and RadioShack Corporation. He was also a USAF National Guard Aerospace Maintenance, Secret Clearance, A1C at Whiteman AFB.
Caleb joined Marel in 2011 and held various positions. Most recently, he worked as an IoT Connectivity Specialist in the Software Solutions Service Team. Since joining Marel, Caleb had always shown a strong dedication to his role within the Production Inspection Team, particularly with SensorX. He had taken on various positions, including Senior Field Service Technician and Focus Group Leader, to ensure the success of SensorX from its initial launch to its establishment as the poultry industry standard. Caleb was also a Field Service Leader before joining Software Solutions as the IoT Connectivity Specialist.
Caleb was a beloved friend to all who knew him, known for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering passion for the great outdoors. He was not only a skilled outdoorsman, but he also possessed a wealth of knowledge that he generously shared with those around him. His genuine care for others and commitment to honesty set him apart as a true friend to many.
His hobbies and loves included cooking, beekeeping, worm farming, hydroponics, fishing, gaming, and creative endeavors of all kinds. Caleb had a great sense of humor. His infectious and joyous laugh drew in strangers and friends alike.
In addition to his parents, Caleb is survived by his significant other, Cheridan Newton of Sedalia; maternal grandfather, Perry Burch of Columbia, MO; paternal grandmother, Helen Sell of Calhoun, MO; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his rescue Husky, Simba.
Caleb was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rhonda Burch; paternal grandfather, Dwight Sell, Sr., and paternal grandmother, Donna Crouch; and his beloved black lab, “Apollo.” Caleb was also blessed to have known and been loved by his great-grandparents on both sides of the family, including Rhoda Newman (maternal great-grandmother).
A celebration of life gathering with family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., March 16, 2024, at Rea Funeral Chapel, 3510 W. 16th St., Sedalia, MO.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to any local pet rescue in Caleb’s name. To honor Caleb’s love for nature, please consider planting a tree or sowing local wildflower seeds to promote bee survival.
