Obituary For Bill Joe Griffith Sr.

Bill Joe Griffith Sr., 84, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, at Tipton Oaks Nursing Home in Tipton, MO. He was born on March 2, 1939, in Sedalia, a son of Loren V. and Henrietta M. (Moon) Griffith, who preceded him in death.

On March 6, 1960, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Georgie Bernice Corson, who preceded him in death on June 3, 2016.

Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Sedalia. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and Army Reserve. He was an employee of the City of Sedalia for roughly 20 years and an employee of Coca-Cola for 30. He served as a Chaplain for Pettis County Corrections and enjoyed spreading the word of God to all those around him. He enjoyed working on small engine repairs and could almost always be found at home tinkering on something. Though he had many contributions to his community, one that he was most proud of was starting the rodeo at the Missouri State Fair for the disabled.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's death. He had a heart bigger than anyone I know. Last year was the first time he missed helping at the Dream Factory Tractor Pull in our 32 years of having it. Bill was the greatest at raising funds for anyone or any organization in need. I know he is now back with his wife whom he has missed terribly since her passing. Sympathies to his family and especially his beloved grandkids. I will see you again my good friend. Linda Johnson
