Obituary For Betty Banner

Betty Rose Banner, 77, of Sedalia, passed away peacefully Monday, March 12, 2018, surrounded by her family, at California Care Center in California, MO. She was born on April 9, 1940 in Emmett, ID, the daughter of Wray and Dorothy (Anspaugh) Shackelford, who preceded her in death.

On April 19, 1958 in Roach, MO she was united in marriage to Glenn "Buck" Banner, who preceded her in death on September 4, 2017. Together they shared 59 years of marriage.

Betty was a member of Lamine Baptist Church. As a long time resident of Smithton, MO, Betty was very dedicated to her family, community and church. She spent 30 plus years in nursing in the Sedalia area.

Betty is survived by six children, Vickie Fry of Tipton, John Banner (Cindy) of Lake Ozark, MO, Ben Banner (Meshel) of Green Ridge, Jackie Lehman (Brian) of Lincoln, DE, Jeff Banner (Sherry) of Sedalia, and Angie Dumsday (Robert) of Tipton; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Sonny Burkhaulter of Lebanon, MO, Cathy Clevenger of Lebanon, MO and Debbie Kennemer of Fair Grove, MO; four brothers, Robert Shackelford (Roberta) of Springfield, MO, Joe Shackelford (Vicki) of Republic, MO, Mike Shackelford (Sharon) of Joplin, MO, and Randy Shackelford, Camdenton, MO.

In addition to her husband Buck, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Shackelford; a step mother, Edith Rogers; and son-in-law, Tom Fry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Hankins officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel..

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Tyler Banner, Blake Banner, Nick Banner, Robert Dumsday, III, Daniel Dietzman, Kenny Mallott, Derrick Castle, and Trent Scotten.

Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Ravin Banner, Jessica Banner, Nichole Banner, Zoe Dietzman, Tomi Mallott, Chris Lehman, Sarah Lehman, Mackenley Scotten, and Quincy Scotten.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Preferred Hospice, 1900 Providence Rd. #311, Columbia, MO 65202.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for tremendous care to Boone Hospital, The Living Center, and California Care Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
