Obituary For Bernard Dove

Bernard Otto Dove, 92, of Green Ridge, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg. He was born on February 28, 1922 in rural Cole Camp, MO a son of Charlie W. and Mary R. (Bucher) Dove.

On June 27, 1945 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bahner, MO he was united in marriage to Helen Marie Reusch, who preceded him in death on March 26, 1999.

Bernard served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII. He was a lifetime member of Sedalia VFW Post 2591 and The Sedalia Rod and Gun Club where he served as chairman of the board. Bernard also was a member of the 40 & 8 of Sedalia and member of The American Legion Post 491, Green Ridge for 41 years and Founding Father of the Green Ridge Fire Department. He served on the Green Ridge Community building board, working extensively with Loafer’s Day annual fundraising event. He loved to fish, hunt and trap shoot.

He is survived by three children, James J. Dove (Julia) of Green Ridge, John W. Dove (Denise) of Green Ridge and Pauline L. (Dove) Pritchett (Doug) of Belton; one daughter in law, Kathy F. Dove of Green Ridge; six grandchildren, Jamie, Matthew, Derek, Austin, Landon and Joshua; two great granddaughters, four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, David W. Dove; two sisters, Teresa M. Closser and Patricia Dove; one brother, Charles Dove; one daughter in law, Cheri (Walz) Dove and one step great granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, August 29, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sedalia with Father Mark Miller officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel. Sedalia 40 & 8 will conduct honors at 6:30 to begin the visitation. Rosary will be conducted at 8:00 pm to conclude visitation.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Dove, Derek Pritchett, Austin Pritchett, Landon Dove, Joshua Pritchett and G.L. Rapp.

Honorary bearers will be Jamie Dove, Frank Walz and Bill and Marsha Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg or The Green Ridge Community Building, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
