Barbara J. Reeves, 95, of Sedalia, MO, passed away on December 23, 2022, peacefully at her rural home in Sedalia. She was born on May 11, 1927, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the daughter of John A. Needs and Mabel (Anthany) Needs, who preceded her in death.
On August 4, 1945, in Alexandria, LA, she was united in marriage to Richard C. Reeves, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2015.
She was a Norwalk High School graduate in 1945. Soon after she graduated, she and Richard married. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone and then later for Norwalk Community School as a bus driver. She was the first female bus driver for the state of Iowa and enjoyed her job for 17 years. Her hobbies included crocheting, camping, traveling, gardening, her animals, and always devoted time to her family.
Survivors include Pauletta (Dan) Hommer and family; Michael Reeves and family; Vicky (Wayne) Hyde and family; Keith Reeves and family; Kelly (Becky) Reeves and family; Tracy Reeves. Of her six children, she had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, an aunt, and an uncle whom she was very close with, three sisters, and one brother.
A burial and celebration of life with family and friends will be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa, at a later date.
