Obituary For Arnold L. Sorensen

Arnold L Sorensen, 83, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at his home. He was born on December 20, 1938, in Tyler, MN the son of Arthur Sorensen and Olga A. (Hansen) Sorensen, who preceded him in death.

On June 21, 1960, in Tyler, MN, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Ann Skjong, who resides in the home.

Arnie went to elementary school in a one room school house in rural Minnesota near his home. He attended Tyler Public school through his Junior High and High School years. He graduated from Tyler in 1956. Arnie attended South Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1960.

Arnold was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Tyler, MN. He grew up on a farm in Arco, MN. After marrying, Arnie and Becky moved to Clinton, OK where he worked for The Bureau of Reclamation on the Foss Dam. In 1961, the couple moved to Sanford TX, where he worked on the Canadian River Dam. In 1963, they moved to Aberdeen SD, where he worked for the John Deere Company. The love of farming beckoned him back to Tyler in 1964, where he farmed with his father and brother until 1985. At that time he moved to Sedalia, and worked on Whiteman Air Force Base as a Civil Engineer/Environmental Engineer, until he retired in 2013. After his retirement, he continued to farm in the Sedalia area until 2019.

In addition to his wife, Becky, he is survived by five children, Gayle Stringer (Dave) of Auburn, CA, Brenda Coen (John) of Auburn, CA, Denise Ward of Sedalia, Gina LaBounty (Chris) of Apple Valley, MN, and Jason Sorensen (Kristie) of Walnut Creek, CA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Lockridge (Larry) of West Des Moines, IA and Janet Frank (Dennis) of Urbandale, IA; a brother, Leon Sorensen (Diane) of Burnsville, MN.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Connor Coen.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
