Amanda Michelle May

Amanda Michelle May, 41, of Sedalia, MO, passed away at her home on Friday, August 18, 2023. She was born on April 24, 1982, the daughter of Lindal and Marilyn (Hancock) Grechus, who reside in Sedalia.

On March 10, 2012, she was united in marriage to Heath Daniel May, who resides in the home.

Besides her parents and husband, she is survived by two children, Jenesis Michael May of Sedalia and Hannah Marie May (Colton) of Sedalia; a sister, Lori (Jason) Watson of Lee's Summit; a brother, Darin (Brooke) Grechus of Lee's Summit; maternal grandmother, Colleen Hancock, of Warrensburg, MO; grandson, Thatcher Long; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Amanda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Marion, and Betty Hancock; paternal grandparents, Rudy and Martha Grechus; and two uncles.

Amanda was a 2000 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School and received her RN Degree from State Fair Community College. She worked for several years as an RN at Bothwell Regional Health Center and as a home health and hospice nurse. She then became a financial advisor for Edward Jones in 2014.

Amanda enjoyed traveling and rock hunting anywhere she could for "precious treasures" with her dogs, Koa and Lee, by her side. She loved her Edward Jones family, JROTC family and was a proud Rotarian. Most of all, she loved her family and will be missed dearly by so many.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Community of Christ Church, 2000 S. Ingram, Sedalia, with Mary Jo Sartin and Beth Richardson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Community of Christ Church or the Sedalia Rotary Club.
