Allen Dean Embry, 85, of Smithton, MO passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, MO. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Clarksburg, MO the son of Talton and Nora Wolf Embry who preceded him in death.
On June 30, 1963 he was united in marriage to Shirley Duermeyer who preceded him in death in 2009.
He served his country honorably in the US Army in the Korean War. He worked at Fischer Manufacturing in Tipton, MO for over twenty years. He worked for Londen Insurance Group as an area regional and district manager for ten years. He taught himself to play the guitar and played in a few bands. He enjoyed his opportunity to serve on church boards and sing in choirs. He was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors, doing yard work and fishing. He was the general contractor on his home of which he lived in for forty years.
He is survived by his children Allen Embry (Donna) of Sedalia, MO, Gordon Embry (Kathy) of Tipton, MO, and Nancy Embry of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his brother Leo Embry and his sisters Margie Kuttenkuler and Ruth Barbour.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gene Embry.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
