Obituary For Alice Jane Ulmer

Alice Jane Ulmer, 89, of Warrensburg, MO, formerly of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Warrensburg Manor Care Center. She was born on September 6, 1929 in Sedalia, MO, the daughter of Walter and Johanna (Lueck) Hillman, who preceded her in death.

On March 19, 1947 in Kansas City, MO, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Lee "Dinky" Ulmer, who resides in Warrensburg.

Alice was a member of Parkview Christian Church, Sedalia. She worked at Rest Haven Convalescent Home for 25 years as a Nurse Aide, retiring in 1991. Alice volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Bothwell Regional Health Center gift shop, and Show-Me-Christian Youth Home in La Monte. She loved to dance, read, quilt, playing cards, and going fishing with her family and good friend Dorothy Hughes. Alice especially enjoyed sharing her love for cooking with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two daughters, Sherie Metzner and husband John of La Monte and Brenda Hunton and husband Doug of Windsor; four grandchildren, Dana Kirby (Robin), Dustin Gehlken (Dawn), Bradley Metzner (Lindsey), and Justin Metzner (Kara); five great grandchildren, Derek, Alex, Jake, Jackson, and Maizey; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Howard Hillman; three sisters, Wenonah Pate, Johanna Luverne Bailey, and Agnes Sforza.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
