Albert William Bruehl, 91, of Sedalia, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 3, 2022. He was born on October 8, 1930, in Spring Fork, MO the youngest son of nine children born to August Bruehl and Anna (Lappat) Bruehl, who preceded him in death.
Albert started his education in a one room schoolhouse called Prairie Grove. He thought that his mother made the best coffee cakes. She made them from her own yeast made from wild hops. He started working at a young age, farming with mules for his brother-in-law and sister, Charlie and Lydia Lueck. Later, he moved in with his best friend’s family, the Elmer Gardner’s, helping work the farm. While there he bought his first car, a Durant Star. Later he worked for the Cramer and Schrader Plant making haydite and concrete blocks. They made him supervisor at the age of 17. After he married the first love of his life, Gilda Mae Hall, he built their first home of the strong blocks. Albert went to service during the Korean War, stationed in France. He came home and became a mechanic. He and Gilda raised their family of six children in Sedalia and Hughesville. Albert started his own trucking service, contracting for Town and Country Shoe Factory. After Town and Country Shoe Factory closed, he went to work for Interstate Studios. There, he met and married the second love of his life, Alice (Blaylock) Dotson. They shared a wonderful life, spending many hours with their nine children, nineteen grandchildren, and thirty-seven great grandchildren. Albert and Alice would have celebrated their 25th anniversary on October 4th, 2022.
In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by five children, Barbara Koeller (Kenneth), Cathy Warnke (Dennis), Edward Bruehl, Patty Morrison (Rick), and Joyce Woods (Rick) all of Sedalia; two step-children, Janet Butler (Todd) of Raytown, MO, and Steven Dotson (Adonica) of Maumelle, AR; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, Albert was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Bruehl; a step-son, Larry A. Dotson; eight siblings, Lydia Lueck, John Bruehl, Goldie Mettenburg, Edwin Bruehl, Louise Mittenburg, Rose Wulff, and Mary and George at infancy.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022, at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, St. Patrick's Chapel with Father Joe Corel officiating.
Reading of the Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, with family receiving friends to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Rea Funeral Chapel.
