Thomas Dean Pettis, 69 of Sedalia, MO, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born on July 11, 1947 in Sedalia, MO the son of George and Priscilla (Loucks) Pettis, who preceded him in death.
On November 20, 1965 he was united in marriage to Mary Herd in Warrensburg, MO, who survives of the home.
Thomas honorably served in the U.S. Navy. He was very proud of his military service. He worked for the Sedalia Democrat as a paper carrier for over 20 years. He enjoyed working on cars and going to the casino from time to time. After his retirement he enjoyed staying home and watching television.
Beside his wife Mary, he is survived by his son Donald Pettis of Sedalia and his daughter Brenda (Landon) Estes of Warsaw, and four grandchildren, Damon Pettis, Austin Estes, Ally Estes and Rodney Pettis, three sisters, Deborah Love of Colorado, Pamela Crum of St. Joseph, MO and Vicky Purvis of Sedalia and two brothers, Rick Pettis and Jason Talbott both of Sedalia.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Steven Pettis and an infant son Rodney Wayne.
Memorial services will be held at 7 pm, Wednesday, January 11. 2017 at Community of Christ Church, Sedalia, MO. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Higginsville, MO at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Rea Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
