Ruth Woolery

imageRuth Elizabeth Woolery, 93, of Baxter Springs, KS, formerly of Sedalia, passed away April 3, 2016 at Quaker Hill Nursing Home in Baxter Springs, KS. She was born on October 31, 1922 in Elmer, MO, the daughter of Marion Edgar and Mary (Marqurite) Schindhelm Audsley who preceded her in death.

On September 4, 1942 she was united in marriage to Orval Franklin Woolery, who preceded her in death, May 22, 2010.

Ruth was baptized August 29, 1930 in a farm pond in rural Henrietta, MO. She received an Associate Arts degree from Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar, MO.  Ruth enjoyed writing poetry, and composing music.  She served as church organist and pianist for many years and continued sharing her love of music by playing piano for the residents of Quaker Hill Nursing Home.  Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church, Sedalia, MO. Ruth and Orval lived in Sedalia most of their adult lives, for over 45 years.

Ruth is survived by three children, Marilyn “Beth” Coughennower of Butler, MO, Ellen Lehan and her husband Mike of Ft. Myers, FL., and Ben Woolery and his wife Jeanie of Carl Junction, MO; a daughter-in-law, Linda K. Woolery of Neosho, MO; a sister-in-law, Margret Bradley of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Brad, Roweton, Todd Coughennower, Lance Roweton, Brock Roweton, Paul Crane, Tisha Hall, Beth Garrett, and Mindy Paige; and 19 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Edward Orval Woolery; a granddaughter, Rachelle Roweton; a grandson, Jared Roweton and a son-in-law, Woody Coughennower.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016 at  First Baptist Church, Sedalia, MO. with Pastor Ted Francis officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service at the church.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be Brad Roweton, Lance Roweton, Brock Roweton, Todd Coughennower, Chase Roweton and Jack Roweton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Quaker Hill Manor activities department in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
