Ruth Emma Bockelman, 94, of Cole Camp passed away November 12, 2015 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp, Missouri. She was born on January 31, 1921 at the family home in Brauersville Community, North of Cole Camp, Missouri the only child of Rueben Bockelman and Emma Kipp who preceded her in death.
She was baptized and confirmed at Brauersville Lutheran Church by Pastor Rudolph Kranz. She attended Cole Camp school and after graduation she taught school for three years in the Cole Camp area. She then moved to Richmond, Indiana for seven years where she taught steel guitar lessons and returned to Kansas City where she taught guitar at Penniman Studio. Due to the poor health of her parents she moved to Sedalia in 1957 and had her music studio above the Shaw Music Company in Sedalia. She continued to give lessons out of her home in Sedalia until her health started failing and she moved to Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Cole Camp.
She was a life time member and President of American Guild Music, Mid-America Music Association, Sedalia Organ Club, Cole Camp German Club, and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
Survivors include her cousin and Godchild, Wilma Williams of Cole Camp; other cousins, Armilda Eckhoff of Cole Camp, Esther Knuth of Stover, Valita Kipp, DeLeah Holsten of Stover, Elsie Harms of Cole Camp, Mary Lou Wood of Greenwood, MO, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Sedalia.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church Radio Ministry or Brauersville Cemetery in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
