Obituary for Weatia Jane Cannon

Weatia Jane Cannon, 70, of Green Ridge passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 surrounded by her family at Windsor Healthcare and Rehab in Windsor, MO. She was born on July 30, 1949 in Center Ridge, AR the daughter of William Thomas McCoy and Lela Fay (Bryant) McCoy, who preceded her in death.

Weatia was an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years, retiring in 2001 from Owensville Schools, Owensville, MO. She was very active in volunteering at Green Ridge Schools. She volunteered in the school library and was a substitute teacher. Weatia loved going to all the sporting events at Green Ridge School. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and helping keep the score books for the High School basketball games.

Survivors include a son Jason Cannon (Julie) of Green Ridge; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Madison, and Emery; two sisters, Jeannine McCoy of Lubbock, TX, and Jan Powell (Allen) of Dexter, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Steele and Elwood McCoy.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Andy Hoos and Jamie Hoos officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Green Ridge School Athletic Department in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
