Wayne Eugene Cook

Wayne Eugene Cook, 94, a native of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. He was born on March 10, 1924 in Lamar, MO a son of Herman and Grace Marie (Yeager) Cook, who preceded him in death.

On September 26, 1946, in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Lucy Marvalee Gower, who preceded him in death on September 27, 2008. On June 4, 2010 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Boyer, who preceded him in death in December of 2016.

Wayne was baptized in 1965 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sedalia and later became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sedalia. He was a 1942 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy as a Baker Second Class, V-6 during WWII. He was employed at Mallory's Bakery as a Master Baker for most of his career. After his retirement, he worked as the maintenance supervisor for Sacred Heart School. Wayne was a 4th degree Knight with the Sedalia Knights of Columbus. He was an avid gardener and had numerous water gardens. Wayne enjoyed oil painting with his wife Lucy. Wayne had a great sense of humor which he passed on to all his family. He especially loved spending quality time with his family and his little dog Sandy.

Wayne is survived by five children, Vic Cook and his wife Kathy of Kansas City, MO, Renee Phillips and her husband Terry of Holts Summit, MO, Julie Deuschle and her husband Hank of Kansas City, MO, Paul Cook and his fiancé Misty Lehmann of Sedalia, MO; and Anthony Cook and his wife Rene of Mora, MO; five grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to his wives Lucy and Mary, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Edward Cook.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mark Miller, C.PP.S officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m Wednesday August 15, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with a Knights of Columbus Ceremony being conducted at 11:15 a.m. Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be at Smithton Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Cook, Damien Cook, Landon Cook, Shawn Kite, Kevin Bollinger, and Nick Evangelidis.

Honorary bearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
