Obituary For Tommy Merle Fowler

Tommy Merle Fowler, 88, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Fair View Nursing Home in Sedalia. He was born on May 13, 1930 in Sedalia, the son of Eldon William Fowler and Ethel Pearl Hall, who preceded him in death.

On September 11, 1953 in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen White, who preceded him in death on January 25, 1999.

Tommy lived in Sedalia all of his life. He was a 1949 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Army National Guard and served his country honorably until he was discharged in 1953. He worked as a Carman for Union Pacific Railroad for over 20 years, retiring in 1986. He then worked for the Sedalia Water Department as a truck maintenance repairman for a few years until retiring. He was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. In his spare time, Tommy loved fishing, hunting, and gardening.

Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Ellen Fowler of Linn Creek, MO, and Toney Webb of Sedalia; a son, Thomas W. Fowler of Otterville, MO; three grandchildren, Angela, Christopher, and Nancy; five great grandchildren; and a cousin, David Moore and his wife Rhoda of Sedalia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2019 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glenn Sparks, officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens, Sedalia, MO.

Pallbearers will be great nephews.

Honorary bearers will be nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
