Obituary For Shirley Jean Wimer

Shirley Jean Wimer, 87, of Sedalia passed away Monday October 29, 2018 at her home. She was born on October 9, 1931 in Sedalia, MO the daughter of Fay Gene and Mary Nadine (McVey) Rutter, who preceded her in death.

On May 26, 1949 in Sedalia she was united in marriage to LeRoy Wimer, who resides at the home.

Shirley was a member of First Christian Church, Sedalia. She worked as a secretary for eleven years for The Overhead Door Co. in Sedalia and for the Pettis County License Bureau. Shirley loved gardening, playing cards, shopping, and especially loved traveling with her husband to all 50 states, Scotland, and England.

In addition to her husband LeRoy, she is survived by two sons, Michael Wimer (Robert Hotz) of San Francisco, CA, and Dale Wimer (Margaret) of Jefferson City, MO; two daughters, Diana Melton (Gene) of Laurie, MO, and Nancy Weant (Rodney) Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren, Chad, Sara, Heather, Stacie, Eric, and Nick; nine great grandchildren; her care givers-nieces, Brenda Peterson (Dan) and Barbara Funkhauser (Don); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rutter; and two step sisters, Yvonne Alexander and Jean Curtis.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at First Christian Church, Sedalia, with Dr. Chad McMullin officiating.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.

    My heart is just broken! I just want to say how sorry I am. Shirley was so fun and always so happy! Gosh, I have so many great memories of her and the whole family. Loved her a lot! All of you will be in my prayers.
