Robert "Bob" Vern Abney

Robert "Bob" Vern Abney, 80, died early morning, Friday, August 17, 2018 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, MO. He was born in Sedalia on November 10, 1937 to Vern L. and Virgie (Montgomery) Abney, who preceded him in death.

On June 30, 1957 he was united in marriage to Shirley A. Miesner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, MO.

He loved to listen to western swing music, read about World War II, and work outdoors. He also did much wood working and enjoyed life. Bob worked many years in drywall construction and remodeling houses. He later worked for Hayes Wheels where he retired. Bob was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sedalia.

He is survived by his wife of the home and three sons, Timothy Abney of Manchester, MO, Daniel Abney and wife Patty of Sedalia and Mark Abney and wife, Julie also of Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Christina Wagner and husband Josh of Columbia, Kevin Edwards and wife Kim of Sedalia, Robert Abney and fiance Allison Kroenke of Columbia, Leslie Abney of Columbia, Tyler Abney, Kassidy Abney, Paige Abney and Adelynn Abney all of Sedalia; three great grandchildren, Luke, Jack and Carter; siblings, Shirley Sanders of Independence, Larry Abney and wife Jean of Wentzville, Barbara Chrisman and husband Riley of Spearfish, SD, Gerald Abney of Sedalia, and Richard Abney and wife Janice of Hughesville.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Andrew Tessone officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

Burial will be at Cole Camp Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp, MO.

Pallbearers will be Robert Abney, Tyler Abney, Kevin Edwards and Ron Miesner. Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
