Noel Walter Patterson

Noel Walter Patterson, 70, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born on September 24, 1947 in Kermit, TX, the son of Walter Renfro and Winnie (Woodard) Patterson, who preceded him in death.

On January 18, 2002 in Sedalia, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Hess, who resides of the home.

Noel spent much of his early life growing up in Hobbs, NM. He enlisted in the United States Army when he was 18 years old. During the time he spent serving his country, he gained invaluable travel opportunities and incredible experiences which would shape the animated and lovable storyteller he eventually became. Noel loved sharing these and other memories with his favorite audience, his family. He was an incredible, loving father and husband, and a devoted grandfather. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his integrity and work ethic, and for the wisdom and advice he provided in times of need. Noel spent a majority of his working years at Whiteman Air Force Base, and retired from there in 2012. In his free time, Noel enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, outdoor activities, and in his younger years, riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by two children, Carli Hess of Columbia, MO and Chris Hess of Lawrence, KS; three grandchildren, Joel, Keller, and Ella; a sister, Sharon Beth Wooley of Hobbs, New Mexico; and a brother, Michael Lyn Patterson, of Krum, Texas. He also had several nephews.

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia, with Rev. Harvel Sanders officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
