Obituary For Nellie Kathleen Newman

Nellie Kathleen Newman, 77, of Sedalia passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. She was born on March 13, 1941 in Blackwater, MO the daughter of William and Reba (Biggs) Shoemaker, who preceded her in death.

In 1957 she was united in marriage to Robert Gene Newman, who preceded her in death in 1981.

Nellie enjoyed doing crafts, going fishing, camping, bird watching, bowling, and playing softball. She worked as a Certified Nurse Aid for many years at long term care facilities in California, Kansas, and Missouri.

Nellie is survived by three children, Kay Newman of Sedalia, Gail Coleman of Westbrooke, ME, and Mike Newman (Tracy) of Live Oak, CA; two sisters, Renee Goodson (Jerry) of Sedalia and Norma Danforth (Bill) of Blue Springs, MO; two brothers, Greg Shoemaker of Swansboro, NC and Monte Shoemaker of FL; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Robert Newman; two infant sons; one brother, Clarence Shoemaker; a granddaughter, Brandi Coleman, and a grandson, Clinton Stoney.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Brother Greg Shoemaker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel.

Burial will be at Salt Fork Cemetery Blackwater, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family contributions are suggested to the family in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
