Obituary For Leslie Dean Kentch

Leslie Dean Kentch, 58, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. He was born on June 21, 1961 in Casper, WY, to Donald Lynn Kentch and Rosetta (England) Kentch. He and his twin sister, Lori Jean, were greeted by their sister Vicki Lynn and brother, Donald Floyd.

As a child, Dean was very busy, constantly moving, and outgoing, making friends with everyone he met. For Dean, he never met a stranger. Throughout his life he was known for his joyous laugh and bright smile! He loved telling jokes. He had a big caring heart and was always willing to help people and volunteer his time.

Dean served several years in the United States Army as a cook. After he got out of the military, he worked several jobs in line production before beginning his career in the transportation industry as a truck driver. He enjoyed driving, loving the freedom of the road, visiting places, and tasting the different cuisine of the area. His career ended due to health reasons.

Dean had an incredible talent for cooking and a special way in putting spices and flavors together. The spice store was candy store! His passion for cooking led to some tasty creations, especially his BBQ.

His hobbies included reading Western novels, watching classic movies, and playing golf.

He met Crissella in the Grove Springs, MO area, fell in love, married and had three beautiful children. Eventually the couple divorced and Dean remarried several times.

Dean was led to accept Christ into his heart by his dear friend Kevin when on the road in their semi while driving from Reno to Tennessee. He had a big caring heart and was always willing to help people and volunteer his time. He attended New Hope Baptist Church and loved his church family, setting up the donuts and coffee, and participating in the men’s ministry. Toward the end of his life, this is what brought him the greatest joy.

Dean is survived by his three children, Hannah Kentch of Jacksonville, FL, Heather Kentch, and Benjamin Kentch. He is also survived by his sister Vicki Kentch of Brighton, CO; and his brother, Donald F. Kentch (wife Jeannette), of Willis, Texas.

Dean will be greeted in heaven by his Lord, Jesus Christ; his parents Donald L. & Rosetta Kentch; his sisters Brenda Kay and Lori Jean.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at the State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO with full military honors conducted by Sedalia VFW Post 2591 and the Missouri Army National Guard.

A celebration gathering will be held for family and friends on Saturday, January 18, 2020, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Sedalia.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Baptist Church of Sedalia, MO.
