Obituary For James R Holman, Jr.
James R Holman Jr, 83, of Sedalia, MO passed away Monday, June 11, 2018 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia. He was born on July 29, 1934 in Richmond, MO the son of James R and Myrtle F (Briant) Holman, Sr, who preceded him in death.
On November 15,1958 in Richmond, MO, he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) A. Woodruff, who preceded him in death on May 15, 2018.
Jim worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation as a Resident Engineer for 43 years, retiring in 1999. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army National Guard while living in Richmond, MO. Jim was a member of First Christian Church, Sedalia, where he served as an Usher, Deacon, and Elder; he served on the Board of Directors and past President of the Sedalia Lions Club in 1975-76, and also a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Richmond, MO.
Jim enjoyed gardening, quail hunting with his dad, and especially loved following his kids and grandkids in all their sports and activities.
He is survived by his three children, Teri Curtis (Mark) of Green Ridge, MO, Jim Holman III (Jeana), of Columbia, MO, and Todd Holman (Billie), of Sedalia; and eleven grandchildren, Joshua Holman, Cody Curtis (Darci), Madeline Juttelstad (Matt), Lauren Holman, Chad Curtis, Logan Holman, Nicholas Holman, Tyler Holman, Jacob Holman, Haley Barnes, and Zachary Barnes; and a great granddaughter, Bristol.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 15, 2018 at First Christian Church, Sedalia, MO with Dr. Rev. Chad McMullin, officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at First Christian Church.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, MO.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joshua, Cody, Chad, Nicholas, Tyler, Jacob, and Zac.
Honorary bearers will be granddaughters, Madeline, Lauren, Logan, and Haley; a niece, Gretchen; two nephews, Rew and Chris (Mary Lynn).
Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, the Sedalia Lions Club or to the James and Judith A. Holman Scholarship Fund in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.
