Obituary For Dorothy Nell Phillips

Dorothy Nell (Jett McFarland) Phillips, 93, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center, Sedalia. She was born on August 25, 1925 in Slater, MO, the daughter of Lester H. and Floy (Newell) Jett.

On May 29, 1946 in Kansas City, KS, she was united in marriage to J.D. McFarland, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1957. On November 5, 1964 in Carthage, MO, she was united in marriage to Robert Irvin Phillips, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1997.

Dorothy was member of Hopewell Baptist Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing card games and dominos. Dorothy loved being a care giver and helping others in any way she was able.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Roxanna Peters (Chris) of Jefferson, MO, Virginia "Ginger" Krueger (Jerry) of Racine, WI, and Debra Eberting (Art) of Clinton, MO; five grandchildren, Cynthia, Cathy, Chris, Emily, and Scott; a step grandson, Bryan; eight great grandchildren, Roxanna, Brandon, Brooke, Preston, Peyton, Weston, Tucker, and Lilliana; a sister, Adelia Anderson of Hayden, ID; and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear family friends.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Henry Jett; a sister, Mary Frances Lear; and a step grandson, Dan Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Owens and Ron Jobe officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Rural Smithton, MO.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Saltsgaver, David Johnson, David Selvey, Hugo Dennis, Jerry Shull, Dennis Roberts, and Robbie Ramey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Peters II, Jerry Krueger, Dr. Art Eberting, Joe Stuart, Mike Hickman, Chris Peters III, Scott Eberting, Brandon Hickman, and Bryan Krueger.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross Roads Hospice or to Hopewell Baptist Church in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
