Obituary For Deborah J. Young

Deborah (Debbie) Juanita Young, 67, of Sedalia passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at her home. She was born on November 26, 1951 in Tarzana, CA, the daughter of Robert Loren and Mary Juanita (Murphy) Williams Sr., who preceded her in death.

Debbie was united in marriage to Gary Ditton and through this union they had two children, Wendy Merrick of Florida, and Tammy Wolf and husband Brandon of Sedalia. On October 26, 1979 in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Jim Young, who resides of the home. Through this union together they raised four children, Richard Young III and wife Susan of Sedalia, and Melinda Strange and husband Allen of Sedalia. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Brittany, Brian, Colten, Kelton, Carson, Dylan, Colby, Garrett, Hilary, and Austin; 13 great grandchildren, Emry, Ella, Abby, Aver'ee, Mason, Gentry, Grayson, Aleena, Kayden, Alistair, Aaliyah, Calum, and Anderssen; a brother, Robert Loren Williams, Jr. and wife Robin of Sedalia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Emma Hunter; and a son-in-law, Stan Dick.

Debbie worked for Lamy's Manufacturing in Sedalia for 23 years. In 1994, Debbie started working for the Sedalia #200 School District as a cook at Smith-Cotton High School, retiring in 2017. She loved cooking for her family every Sunday and especially loved spending that time with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Allen Strange and Austin Strange officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Rea Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sedalia #200 School District or Crossroads Hospice, in care of Rea Funeral Chapel.

    She was an inspiration to all of us. A joy to be around and almost always up for some fun even when she didn’t feel well. We will miss her shining light.

    She was an amazing woman. I had the pleasure meeting her when she would come by on Sundays and help with the homeless and people in need. Even though she was not feeling well she made time for others. R.I.P my friend you will be missed. I know every Sunday you will be here in spirit smiling down at us. God gained a beautiful wonderful angel.
