Obituary For David Duane Smith

David Duane Smith, 69, of Houstonia, MO passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO. He was born on September 22, 1949 in Sedalia, MO the son of Charles D. and June (Hurd) Smith, who preceded him in death.

On June 14, 1969 in Hughesville, MO he was united in marriage to Billie Lynette Blum, who resides in the home.

Dave was a 1967 graduate of Northwest High School in Hughesville, MO. He worked as a butcher for Wilson Foods and Tyson's Foods for over 42 years retiring in 2011. He enjoyed mowing his yard three days a week and going fishing with his brother Danny. Dave especially enjoyed spending his summer weekends on Truman Lake with his family. His grandchildren were his whole world. He was very proud of his grandchildren and lived his life through their accomplishments.

Besides his wife of forty-nine years, survivors include two daughters, Christina Hendrix (Shelby) and their children, Lilli, Georgia, and Anna all of Blackwater, MO and Catherine Schneider (Troy) of Cole Camp, MO; one brother, Daniel Smith (Patty) of Sedalia, MO; his father-in-law, Billie Blum of Hughesville, MO; two sisters-in-law, Jamie Welton (Pete) of Marshall, MO and Dana Zimmerman (Wendell) of Hughesville, MO; several nieces and nephews; and his four legged furry companion, Molly.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dana June Buso; two grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Gerke; and his mother-in-law, Georgia Blum.

A private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rea Funeral Chapel.
