Obituary For Bob L McDonald

Bob L McDonald, 89, of Jefferson City passed away December 8, 2018 at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City, MO. He was born on February 1, 1929 in Eldon, MO the son of Peter B. and Ruth E. (Richardson) McDonald, who preceded him in death.

On February 14, 1948 in Rocky Mount, MO. he was united in marriage to Helen L. Vanhooser, who preceded him in death on October 21, 2016.

Bob was a 1947 graduate of Eldon High School. He worked in banking throughout Missouri in Eldon, St. Louis, Lebanon, Macon, and ended his career as President of Third National Bank in Sedalia, retiring in 1994. Bob was a member of the Bothwell Hospital Board of Directors for many years. He was active in the Kansas City Shrine Club. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved riding his motorcycle across the country.

Survivors include three children, Larry McDonald and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, MO, Lin McDonald of Springfield, MO and Robert McDonald and his wife Lynn of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Casey, Deven, and Keara; four great grandchildren; a brother, Chuck McDonald and his wife Oma, of Springfield, MO; a sister, Marjorie Herfurth and her husband Jim of Osage Beach, MO.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Bingham.

A celebration of life gathering of family and friends will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia.

Private family graveside service and burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dan Hankins, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral chapel.

    I will always remember how Bob took care of me at the bank whenever I decided to buy a Corvette. He would say just go get what you want and let me know, I've got you covered. I also have many good memories of him at the old Sedalia Country Club. Sympathy and prayers to the entire family during this difficult time.

    Among many memories our 1,000 mile motorcycle trip in 22 1/2 Hrs. Nov. 1, 1986. Sympathies to the families.

    Bob hired me at 3rd national bank when he was personnel officer and loan officers. Many years ha ve past and I worked there 26 years. I will always remember him and keep him in my prayers for giving me that opportunity. He was one of a kind boss and person. Enjoy your memories and he will always s be with you. Hugs and prayers to all the family.

    Larry and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all at the passing of Bob. I have enjoyed assisting with his care over the past few years.
