Obituary For Anna Belle Lietzow

Anna Belle Lietzow, 90, of Sedalia passed away Friday, March 15, 2019 at Rest Haven Convalescent Home. She was born on April 5, 1928 in Isbell Station, Mo the daughter of William Thomas and Dora Florence (Nichols) Ball, who preceded her in death. Anna Belle was the youngest of 11 children.

On July 3, 1948 in Bonnots Mill, MO, she was united in marriage to Wilburn H. "Barney" Lietzow, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1987.

Shortly after her husband’s Air Force career, Anna Belle and Barney moved to Sedalia and raised their family. Anna Belle spent most of her life as a housewife. However, since Barney was a builder for many years, Anna Belle worked beside him helping in any way she could. Anna Belle enjoyed teaching Sunday School during the years her children were small. She loved working with others in the church kitchen, preparing meals for various functions. She was also ready to deliver “Meals on Wheels” whenever needed.

There were many close friends through the years in Sedalia that she thought of as “family”. She deeply loved all of her family and all of her friends.

For 5 years she had a loving “community” of many friends and caregivers at Rest Haven Convalescent Home. Many of her good friends have gone on before her.

She would want to send out special thanks to many during her recent illness. These include Dr. Sharp, Dr. Wendt, Dr. Wadley and Dr. Marquez along with the many nurses and aids that cared for her at Bothwell Hospital. She would also thank all the nurses, aids, and staff at Rest Haven Convalescent Home, along with all of the Crossroads Hospice workers for their care during her last week with us. You have all loved her and cared for her beyond measure.

Survivors include a son, Steve Lietzow and his wife Donna of Sedalia; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Lietzow of Fenton, MO; two granddaughters, Michelle McNutt (James) and Christa Merritt (Robert) of Lee's Summit, MO; and six great grandchildren, Jonas, Josiah, and Joyah McNutt; and Chasity, Carter, and Owen Merritt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lietzow; five brothers and five sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jim Downing, Jr. and Cheri Heeren officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.

Burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Guild of Kansas City in honor of Owen Merritt or to the First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral chapel.
